Pi Rho (Creative Writing Club)
Come on, be honest, are you one of those kids who dreamed of getting a letter to Hogwarts? Or maybe you loved weaving tales of adventure and chivalry. Then again, perhaps your favorite thing was churning out stories about mysteries and thrills or scribbling out your thoughts into poetry and songs. If this is you, then look no further...

Member Testimonials:
"Pi Rho is an amazing club that puts students' creativity, in a writing perspective, to the test.
It lets those throughout Central High Scool that have a knack for writing share their work with others and help build what they have to a new level!"

By: Tiffany Sanders

"Pi Rho is a club that allows all of the students involved to bounce ideas off of each other. When students share their work, they can rely on their other club members to help them improve and to expand their writing in a way they never could have done before."

By: Deborah Folkes

"Pi Rho is the most amazing club that has been at Central High School, for writing, in years. This club has created an outlet for the "eccentric" people that enjoy all types of writing. Our club was started by students for students. It has become an escape for some, and a haven for all. I personaly enjoy Pi Rho, and look forward to it every week. I have loved being able to escape "writer's block" and share my stories and poetry with my friends. Pi Rho is more like a family than a group of friends. Mrs. Atchley has been ever so gracious and amazingly helpful. We all love having her as our sponser. We hope, after some of us graduate, that she will stay and help unite all the students that are creative and enjoy writing to conquer their dreams and change the world, like we all will eventualy."

"Pi Rho is not only just a writing club. It's much more. It's a family, but more. It's a place that writers can unblock what most great writers have. Writer's block. It's a place that writers can read their piece of writing and receive constructive criticism for it. Short stories, poems, stories, and other pieces of prose are accepted. The world today places so much pressure on the youth, and the only way we, the youth, can get out of that period is through the words flowing onto paper. And there are great words and many words we can choose from. You have to make your choice on what words that flow from your pen."

U.T. Young Writer's Institute
The Young Writer's Institute will be March 20th at U.T. if you would like to attend this year.  That's on a Saturday, and if you would like to go, you MUST stop by my room BEFORE FRIDAY and let me know what classes you would like to attend.  Wow!  Two weekends of writing workshops back-to-back...I'm starting to feel like we're professional writers!  How about you?

Just remember - "WRITERS WRITE!"
Jean Lorrah is Coming!
On March 25-27, Jean Lorrah (writer of Blood Will Tell and Star Trek Metamorphosis) will be here to conduct our writing workshops.  This is very exciting as she has a movie script in the works and won the 2001 award for best vampire romance.  Please save the dates and get your ideas ready!  She will be here for Thursday night, all day Friday, and Saturday breakfast the week before Spring Break.  SEE ME about what you need to have ready for her.  We are limiting the workshop to 15 students; so if you know any Pi Rho wannabes who want to come, let me know ASAP.

 Book of the Sons.docx
On a planet nothing like our own, in a reality beyond our concept, five come together to bring down a power mad ruler. They fight for the right cause...for all of the wrong reasons.
 Fallen, but Soaring.doc
A story about how fear has an opponent, how hate has an opponent. And how you can live and what defeats the other.
The Portal - First Two Chapters.doc
What I am about to tell you, you won’t believe. I didn’t believe it when it when my father told it to me, and he certainly didn’t believe it when it happened to him…but this story is real,…and, if you pay close attention, you might just be able to save everyone that you love.
It all began with two brothers and a sister, much like you and I, who hoped and dreamed to be something more than what they were – a small family, only them and their grandfather, living in the Alaskan wilderness. But what they didn’t realize was that they were already special…and so are you.
So, for a moment, lay back your head, close your eyes, listen intently…and pretend for second that some myths may be real. Pretend for a second, you are a myth. Not in the idea that you are imaginary, but in the idea that someone else goes to bed listening to stories about you. You are the hope of legends… Starting with three and ending with yourself, this is your story, and how it began…
Remaining in the Volley,
Hero LaRoque
